In addition to the recently added MMA champion Rona Rousey, Thai action star Tony Jaa will costar in Fast and Furious 7 for Universal, joining the ever-growing cast of Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jason Statham and Tyrese Gibson with many more expected to join the undying and always speedy franchise.

The Hollywood Reporter says Jaa, who we all remember from the Ong Bak films, will join Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and new villain Jason Statham in the sequel, among many other familiar faces no doubt. He also has recurring franchise roles in the The Bodyguard and The Protector series (both of which currently have two films each).

Fast 7 will be Jaa's English-language debut.

This Is Infamous has reported that the title for the fifth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean film will be "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," harkening back to the famous line from the Disneyland attraction. Begin speculation on how it relates to the title below!

The franchise started in 2003 with "The Curse of the Black Pearl," featured Johnny Depp in the role of Captain Jack Sparrow. The most recent film, "On Stranger Tides," also starred Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane and Sam Claflin and turned out more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can) has provided the screenplay for the fifth installment, which will be directed by Kon-Tiki's Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is scheduled to begin production in January of 2014 for a July 15, 2015 release.

Warner Bros. has officially confirmed that Academy Award-winning Argo actor and director Ben Affleck is set to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in Zack Snyder's still untitled Superman/Batman sequel to this past summer's Man of Steel - bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen and continuing the director’s vision of their universe, which he established in "Man of Steel." The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. 

In the announcement, Silverman stated, "We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.” Snyder also expressed his excitement about the casting of Affleck, noting, “Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him."

Sue Kroll added, "We are so thrilled that Ben is continuing Warner Bros.’ remarkable legacy with the character of Batman. He is a tremendously gifted actor who will make this role his own in this already much-anticipated pairing of these two beloved heroes."

The new film is being scripted by David S. Goyer from a story he co-created with Zack Snyder. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan and Wesley Coller serving as executive producers.

The studio has slated the film to open worldwide on July 17, 2015.

According to Variety, French actress Marion Cotillard has been confirmed for the leading role in Justin Kurzel‘s Snowtown follow-up "Macbeth." She replaces Natalie Portman who was announced for the part at Cannes. Portman is out for undisclosed reasons, but a worthy replacement has stepped in.

Cotillard (who won an Oscar for her stunning performance in Edith-Piaf biopic "La Vie en Rose") will play opposite Michael Fassbender ("X-Men: First Class"). She's coming off of her James Gray double hitter at Cannes with "The Immigrant" and "Blood Ties". 

The classic story of a Scottish lord who comes to power and will take a "visceral" style with key battle scenes. It will not be a modern update, however, as this take is set in the original language and in the 11th century. The romance-filled epic is produced by Iain Canning and Emile Sherman at See-Saw Films. The pair’s production credits include Oscar-winning "The King’s Speech" and "Shame."

Cotillard is currently shooting Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne’s drama "Two Days, One Night." She will likely follow  up "Macbeth" with another auteur-driven period drama, Benoit Jacquot’s Diary of a Chambermaid” (Le Journal d’une femme de chambre), based on Octave Mirbeau’s classic novel.

Disney's film stars the "Mad Men" actor Jon Hamm in an upcoming biographical sports drama film "Million Dollar Arm," follows a sports agent J.B. Bernstein (Jon Hamm) who stages a reality competition in India looking for the best cricket player. After discovering two standout players, Bernstein takes them back to the U.S. to attempt to turn them into baseball stars. 

The film also stars Bill Paxton as pitching coach Tom House, Suraj Sharma as Singh, Madhur Mittal as Patel, and Alan Arkin. Directed by Craig Gillespie and produced by Joe Roth, Mark Ciardi, and Gordon Gray for Walt Disney Pictures, the film will be released in theaters on May 16, 2014.

Tron: Legacy and Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski is in negotiations to direct the big-screen redo of the sci-fi TV series "The Twilight Zone" for Warner Bros. The new film features a screenplay by Jason Rothenberg, Anthony Peckham and Joby Harold. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran are producing via their Appian Way banner, which is based at Warners.

The original ""The Twilight Zone" created by Rod Serling,  began as a TV series that ran for five seasons on CBS from 1959 to 1964. Subsequent TV series were revived in 1985 and 2002. The sci-fi classic, which revolves around the paranormal and futuristic storylines, also spawned a 1983 film starring John Lithgow. Scott Bloom is executive producing the new film version. Steven Spielberg and John Landis produced and directed segments for the 1983 WB feature film, Twilight Zone: The Movie.

Kosinski most recently directed the Tom Cruise starrer Oblivion for Universal.

Paramount Pictures has revealed that the Nickelodeon Movies/Platinum Dunes franchise's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles release date has been changed from June 6, 2014 to August 8, 2014. This is mainly due to Paramount has its much-awaited Transformers movie slated for June 27, 2014. 

A reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film series, the film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman and stars Megan Fox, Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, Noel Fisher, Danny Woodburn, and Will Arnett. The film was announced shortly before Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Peter Laird sold the rights to the franchise to Nickelodeon in 2009.

Minority Report & this year's The Wolverine's screenwriter Scott Frank is rewriting the Assassin’s Creed film. The original screenplay for the film was put together by Mike Lesslie, but now "The Lookout" director Scott Frank has revealed that he's been drafted in to work on the film.

Frank's previous credits include Minority Report, Get Shorty and Out Of Sight. Assassin’s Creed already has Michael Fassbender attached to star. 

The Assassin's Creed film is a feature-length motion picture, based on the award-winning video game, being produced by Ubisoft Motion Pictures and Frank Marshall. It will be distributed by 20th Century Fox for a planned release of 19 June 2015.

The Taiwan International Comic Exposition has unveiled the full version of a new still from the live-action Patlabor film, a 1988 anime and manga that centered around the special robotics force of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police as they solved various cases in a then-near-future of 1998. There have been several anime films, anime series, mangas, light novels and video games to date. 

Tohokushinsha Film Corporation announced at France's Japan Expo last month that Mamoru Oshii is involved in next year's live-action project of HEADGEAR's Mobile Police Patlabor anime.

The film is currently slated for a 2014 release and has secured the involvement of the anime's original director, Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell). Oshii has past experience directing live-action features but it is unknown whether he will actually direct this project or is merely on board as a consultant.

Christian Bale missed his chance to play Noah for Darren Aronofsky, but he has now been officially confirmed for big-budget historical epic Moses biopic. After being in talks for the role earlier this year, confirmation has come in that Bale will lead Ridley Scott‘s Exodus as Moses. It is said to focus on aspects of Moses’ life not yet brought onto the screen, particularly the Israelite’s relationship with Ramses, the Pharaoh. It is further rumored to be more in the vein of 300 than The Ten Commandments.

The Hollywood Reporter also reports that Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby and Zero Dark Thirty) is in talks to square off against Moses as Egyptian ruler Ramses. There’s not enough details on the precise timeline the film will cover, but an initial script is coming from Adam Cooper and Bill Collage, who only previously gave us the comedies Accepted and (part of) Tower Heist. It’s an odd fit, which is perhaps why Steve Zaillian (Schindler’s List, American Gangster) stepped in to provide a rewrite.

The film will start shooting from September in Spain, Morocco and England ahead of a December 12th, 2014 release. In the meantime, one can see Scott’s The Counselor in late October and we imagine much more casting will occur over the next month for this project.

Newcomer Glen Powell has joined cast in a lead role in the action-packed sequel. The 24-year-old will play a military combat veteran who is also an expert hacker and drone pilot. Even though his credits include a short appearance in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" (he played "Trader #1").  

Powell will be joining an immense cast that currently includes Slyvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Harrison Ford, Jason Statham, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey and Victor Ortiz. The film set to shoot soon in Los Angeles, rumored additional cast members have been said to include Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich, although none have been, as of yet, confirmed.

Lionsgate has slated the third film in the action franchise, Stallone returns as Barney Ross, who leads the group of mercenaries as it undertakes seemingly impossible missions. The Expendables 3 will be directed by Patrick Hughes and will arrive in theaters on August 15, 2014.

Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures have officially announced the start of production and shooting for writer-director Christopher Nolan's (director of The Dark Knight Trilogy ) next film, the space epic Interstellar.

Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom, Inc., and Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that principal photography on “INTERSTELLAR” is officially underway in Alberta, Canada. The film will be released in IMAX® and 35mm theaters on November 7, 2014. Paramount Pictures will distribute domestically, Warner Bros. Pictures internationally.

From Paramount and Skydance Productions, Brad Pitt's zombie-thriller "World War Z" becomes his careers most successful film to date at the worldwide box-office and it also sets the title as the actor’s best ever first weekend opening movie.

The weekend receipts and the worldwide total for World War Z passes $500 million ($197.4 million domestically and $305.2 million at the foreign box office) figure and also the $497.4 million earned by epic war film "Troy".

In the movie, Pitt plays an ex-United Nations investigator who traverses the globe in a race against time to stop a pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Mireille Enos and James Badge Dale also star.

Directed by Marc Foster and screenplay by Matthew Michael Carnahan, based on Max Brooks' 2006 novel of the same name. The movie was a passion project for Pitt, who produced alongside Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Ian Bryce. The film stars Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane, a former United Nations investigator who must travel the world to find a way to stop a zombie-like pandemic.

The film was released on June 21, 2013 in the United States in 2D and RealD 3D.

The first trailer for Maleficent was presented at the D23 Expo . It'll star Angelina Jolie as the infamous villain. Jolie shocked the crowd when she took the stage.

"Since I was a little girl, Maleficent was always my favorite. I was terrified of her, but I was always drawn to her," she told the crowd. She revealed that her brother called her when he found out they were making the movie, and pushed her to go after the part.

The actress seems genuinely excited for the film, and charms the crowd with stories about frightening children on set.

"It feels very special to be a part of this family," she tells the crowd. The crowd was also shown brand new footage from the upcoming film. It showed Jolie's haunting Maleficent casting the spell on Sleeping Beauty.

"The trailer for Maleficent was screened, showing just how scenes from Sleeping Beauty are part of this story. The footage opens with a ceremony celebrating the birth of Princess Aurora, quickly crashed by Maleficent who places a curse on the babe. There were some shots of the fairies, played – I believe – by Juno Temple, Lesley Manville and Imelda Staunton. They’ve not only been shrunken by the FX, their proportions have been skewed. Feige spoke on much-awaited "Captain America" sequel, which hits theaters in April next year. The film has just finished production, says Feige, before showing a clip from the film, featuring Chris Evans' Captain America beating up a lot of people in an elevator. Lots of intense shield-swinging and long tracking shots to show off what looks like a practical boat set. He's taken out most of the guys just as Crossbones and Black Widow lands. She's completely unmoved, continuing the conversation, listing other girls that Cap should take out as they take over the boat. I'm not sure who the villains here are, but they're speaking another language."
