D23 Expo Preview: Description Of Angelina Jolie's Maleficent Trailer

The first trailer for Maleficent was presented at the D23 Expo . It'll star Angelina Jolie as the infamous villain. Jolie shocked the crowd when she took the stage.

"Since I was a little girl, Maleficent was always my favorite. I was terrified of her, but I was always drawn to her," she told the crowd. She revealed that her brother called her when he found out they were making the movie, and pushed her to go after the part.

The actress seems genuinely excited for the film, and charms the crowd with stories about frightening children on set.

"It feels very special to be a part of this family," she tells the crowd. The crowd was also shown brand new footage from the upcoming film. It showed Jolie's haunting Maleficent casting the spell on Sleeping Beauty.

"The trailer for Maleficent was screened, showing just how scenes from Sleeping Beauty are part of this story. The footage opens with a ceremony celebrating the birth of Princess Aurora, quickly crashed by Maleficent who places a curse on the babe. There were some shots of the fairies, played – I believe – by Juno Temple, Lesley Manville and Imelda Staunton. They’ve not only been shrunken by the FX, their proportions have been skewed.
