In addition to the recently added MMA champion Rona Rousey, Thai action star Tony Jaa will costar in Fast and Furious 7 for Universal, joining the ever-growing cast of Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jason Statham and Tyrese Gibson with many more expected to join the undying and always speedy franchise.

Thai Action Star Tony Jaa Will Costar In Fast and Furious 7

The Hollywood Reporter says Jaa, who we all remember from the Ong Bak films, will join Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and new villain Jason Statham in the sequel, among many other familiar faces no doubt. He also has recurring franchise roles in the The Bodyguard and The Protector series (both of which currently have two films each).

Fast 7 will be Jaa's English-language debut.

  1. Jaa seems too good for this tweeny franchise.

  2. Gotta start somewhere if you wanna get into the Big Time. And what's wrong with F&F? Im not a big fan but it's the hottest action ticket in Hollywood right now. I'd say he's picked an excellent place to jump in.

  3. FF is schlocky, and with all the B-stars in the franchise now, Jaa will likely be relegated to some hammy cameo as a henchman, or something.

I'd prefer someone who knows martial arts films to take advantage of this guy's talents, before it's too late.

  4. FF is schlocky but it's very high profile for anyone involved in it being a a franchise that's dug it's way back up to the top of the box office. it's a great way for Jaa to get more exposure. Besides he doesn't really speak english so the most he can hope for is probably just some sort of cameo like the indonesian guy got in FF6 but his was still a kick @$$ cameo.
