"Paranormal Activity 5" Set Next Year’s Halloween On October 24, 2014

While no Paranormal Activity film will be fielding a 2013 release, Paramount Pictures announced today that 2014 will be seeing a double-helping of the "found footage" horror franchise. The newly titled Latino-focused spin-off is now called Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (a storyline rooted in a Catholic-based investigation into the supernatural) and will debut January 3, 2014, while the Paranormal Activity 5 has been dated for a lucrative Halloween spot with an October 24, 2014 release.

A fifth film in the franchise was originally planned for release on October 25, 2013, but that spot will now be filled by comedy Paramount and MTV Films’ Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. The film's producer Jason Blum confirmed in July 2013 that the film was almost finished shooting. Oren Peli, the creator of the franchise, will return to produce the fifth film, and Katie Featherston will return to reprise her role as Katie.

Guy Ritchie's Spy Thriller "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." Casting And Plot Details

According to Variety, the film "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." is described as an “origin story that tells of the first pairing of two spies, one American, one Russian.” Starring Henry Cavill (Man Of Steel) as Napeoleon Solo and Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger) as Illya Kuryakin starts filming in September. Alicia Vikander signed on to the film a few months ago, and now The Great Gatsby actress Elizabeth Debicki is set to play another female role. The film has been in development for years with a number of different directors coming and going, but Ritchie will finally be the one to see this thing through.

Guy Ritchie's Spy Thriller "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." Casting And Plot Details

Unlike the friendly banter of the original TV series, the pair are initially hostile to each other,” someone familiar with the script commented.

Warner Bros. hopes to turn the film into a possible franchise despite the falling out of Tom Cruise in late May and a paring down of the production budget to $75 million. Plans are to shoot the film in Ritchie's native London and in Italy working from a script written by Ritchie with his Sherlock Holmes collaborator, writer and producer Lionel Wigram.

You can read the full extended story about how this project came together despite having been in development hell and losing previous directors and stars like Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney over at Variety.

Guy Ritchie's Spy Thriller "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." Casting And Plot Details

"There was a thing that happened with a B-52 bomber in like 1966 or 1967 over Spain where it was refueling and there was an accident and it lost its payload and three bombs fell on Spain and the Atlantic, and they hadn’t been armed, but the contained warheads.  So we scattered plutonium all over a farm field in Spain, the second bomb was recovered, but the there was a period of time when the third bomb was laying on the floor of the Mediterranean and no one could find it and so it was the race to find it that was what our episode was about, which I thought was going to be really, really cool and I’m bummed we didn’t get to do it."

David Gyasi And David Oyelowo Joins Christopher Nolan's 'Interstellar'

It looks like the birthday boy isn't taking a moment to rest. Celebrating his 43rd birthday, Christopher Nolan will have to blow out the candles a little later, because right now he's continuing to add names to his already massive cast for "Interstellar."

David Oyelowo will be seen in Lee Daniels' "The Butler" and has had roles in everything from Rise of the Planet of the Apes to The Help and even a small role in the beginning of Lincoln.

David Gyasi has worked with Nolan before, having played a prisoner in "The Dark Knight Rises." Gyasi has appeared on "The Walking Dead" and "Doctor Who," and he recently played multiple roles in Wachowski Starship's "Cloud Atlas."

This latest bit of casting news comes from The Wrap and as with all previous Interstellar casting there is no word on what role either will play in the film, but they are joining one of the largest ensemble casts we've seen in some time.

Let's just recap the poster credit crowding cast right here: Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, Wes Bentley, Mackenzie Foy, Timothee Chalamet and Topher Grace. Filming kicks off next month and it will hit theatres on November 7, 2014. [The Wrap]

Johnny Depp Says 'I May Give Up Acting'; Official Synopsis For Transcendence

Depp, talking to BBC Breakfast ahead of the U.K. rollout of "The Lone Ranger" in British cinemas on Aug. 9, says, “At a certain point, you know, you start thinking … when you add up the amount of dialogue that you say per year … and you realize you’ve said written words more than you actually had a chance to say your own words, you start thinking of that as an insane option for a human being.

Transcendence first behind the scene photos

Despite those aforementioned sequels (Alice in Wonderland and Pirates of the Caribbean), Depp does have one promising feature on the horizon, taking part in Wally Pfister‘s directorial debut "Transcendence." Starring alongside Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Cillian Murphy, Clifton Collins Jr., Kate Mara and Paul Bettany.

The official synopsis revealed by Warner Bros. describes the film as such:

"Will Caster, forefather of A.I., has his consciousness uploaded onto the internet. Once there, is it really Will who is interacting with humanity in order to make things better, or a darker sinister clone bent on the termination of the world as we know it?"

Depp will play Will Caster in the film, with Hall playing his wife and Paul Bettany playing another scientist working on his team. "Transcendence" is set to hit theaters on April 18 and hopefully we’ll see a trailer for the film this fall (perhaps in theaters with ‘Gravity‘?).

James Mangold Chats "The Wolverine" Post-Credits Tie-In To "X-MEN: DOFP"

In anticipation of the "The Wolverine" release today, director James Mangold spoke with Digital Spy about the much hyped post-credits sequence

James Mangold Chats "The Wolverine" Post-Credits Tie-In To "X-MEN: DOFP"

Setting up for Hugh Jackman's mutant's next appearance in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," Mangold says of the stinger, "I had finished the movie and Future Past had started shooting, a couple months ago, and we had been talking about what to do, if anything, in the tail credits of this movie.

He says, "It's something I had been talking about with Simon Kinberg (producer) and Bryan Singer at that point about what we might do to kind of feed into it. My only stipulation that was important to me was just that I really didn't want it to be tongue-in-cheek. I feel like a lot of these bonus things almost make the film into a joke, and that wasn't interesting to me.

Mangold continues, "I thought it would be more interesting to try and actually do something quite promising, actually say something and promise something and give people a piece of a story. The whole sequence was built around the shot where we'd unveil Patrick, and I created this shot where he's weaving through all these frozen airport patrons and that is Patrick Stewart with a joystick and electric wheelchair and that isn't easy," he explained. "He's doing a kind of Olympic slalom through all these extras and uh, he's a badass on that thing." When asked if he was glad that it would be Bryan Singer's job to fully explain how Patrick Stewart's Professor Charlves Xavier is alive after "X-Men: The Last Stand, " Mangold replied, "Yes, it is his job and I know they have one, so I'll leave it to them to unveil it."

Anyhow, X-Men: Days of Future Past is currently filming, and stars Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Patrick Stewart, Michael Fassbender, Ian McKellen, Nicholas Hoult, Omar Sy, Peter Dinklage, Halle Berry, Adan Canto, Fan Bingbing, Anna Paquin, Evan Peters, Daniel Cudmore, Ellen Page and Booboo Stewart. "The Hunger Games" Wes Bentley Joins Nolan's "Interstellar"

"The Hunger Games" actor's casting fills the final vacant slot in the "Interstellar" film's lineup, which already includes Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, John Lithgow and Topher Grace. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wes Bentley (The Hunger Games, Lovelace) is negotiating for what's being called the final empty spot in the line-up of the Christopher Nolan-directed sci-fi epic.

"The Hunger Games" Wes Bentley Joins Nolan's "Interstellar"

Wes Bentley, who played Seneca in "The Hunger Games," has quietly become one of the busiest actors in film. He appeared in eight films in 2012, including the mystery thriller "Gone." He also co-stars in the upcoming "Lovelace," which premiered at Sundance.

Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. are teaming on the big-budget tentpole that will be produced by Nolan, Emma Thomas and Lynda Obst. Jordan Goldberg is exec producing.

With a script written by Jonathan Nolan (and later rewritten by Chris to merge his own original idea), Interstellar follows a heroic group of explorers who travel through a wormhole and into another dimension. The ideas are based on the work of physicist Kip Thorne, who's also an executive producer. With filming expected to begin later this year, the movie is slated for a November 7th, 2014 theatrical release and will be shot in IMAX.

Bryan Singer Hints At "X-Men: Day Of Future Past" Plot Details

Many movie fanatics predicted that the plot set in the future wouldn't be as far ahead as those in the comic book of the same name, but director Bryan Singer has now confirmed exactly when those (and the ones set in the past) take place. He also talks more about how Kitty Pryde (played by Ellen Page in the film) sends Wolverine back in time into her younger self to help the X-Men of the past (most of whom have been hunted to extinction in the future) prevent the assassination of Senator Robert Kelly’s (who died in the first X-Men film) and the Sentinel apocalypse to come. In the adaptation of the 1990s animated series, the mutant Bishop was the time traveler.

X-Men-Days-of-Future-Past-Magneto-Wolverine-Professo-X-Posters

We all know that "X-Men: DOFP" is based on the popular 1981 comic book story written by Chris Claremont – also called Days of Future Past – serves as the inspiration for this installment, which features time travel and the mutant-hunting giant robots known as Sentinels, which were (sort of) seen very briefly as part of a Danger Room training simulation in "X-Men: The Last Stand."

Director Bryan Singer said the film was meant to be a "betweequel" while writer Simon Kinberg said, "the goal was to try and make a film that could bring the full cast together, so time travel was the perfect tool to use. Because the character of Wolverine is ageless, he was chosen to be used as a journeyman, and a way to tie both worlds together."

Mutants-Are-The-Enemy-Poster (1)

Singer also addressed fans about "X-Men: The Last Stand." Before the conference there were rumors that stated that since the film would include time travel, the events of the third installment would be erased. He stated, "Whenever you go back in time, and this is every bit as much a time travel movie as it is an X-Men movie, there are those risks. If you believe in certain physical and multiverses, you have to have respect for the continuity as we had. I believe certain continuity will maintain, and some things will change. It's the nature of time travel. If you go back and mess with time, things happen..."

He continued, "This is my first opportunity to make a time travel movie and I tried my very best to make a set of rules, respect them, and stay within the continuity of those rules."

Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Halle Berry, Evan Peters, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, Shawn Ashmore, Omar Sy, and Lucas Till also features in Bryan Singer’s latest X-film.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" tells the story of the X-Men who must send Wolverine to the past to change a major historical event that could globally impact man and mutant kind. The film is currently in post production and will open on May 23, 2014.

What do you make of the slight twist on the Days of Future Past storyline?
