Top 10 Thriller Movies About Multiple Personality Disorder

The phenomenon of Multiple Personality Disorder which forgets entirely one self in order to make possible the existence of another. What is it that makes this schizoid state mandatory? It must be a defense against something? But what? Why does a person feel the need to create these selves within himself and hide them from each other. Most people don't even have the self-awareness or self-knowledge to know what the hell is going on, they just do it automatically.

Fight Club Multiple Personality Disorder

I always had a lot of curiosity about the movies based on Multiple Personality Disorder especially Mystery/Thriller genre. It's fascinating to see those multiple characters on screen with proper storytelling  Let's rank the top 10 movies about Multiple Personality Disorder.

10. Secret Window (2004)

***Fantastic Johnny Depp Saves The Day***

"The most important part of a story is the ending."

"Some windows should never be opened."

"Secret Window" is one of those underrated movies it has very well written story line  good set of actors and performed quite well too . The movie is about writing and the insanity of writers. For those of you unfamiliar with the process...imagine spending months or even years of your life working on a painting that you yourself can never see. You become so close to what you create that you have no idea if it's any good, and the growing doubt of your own ability along with the fear of wasting so much time and effort will most definitely have you pulling your hair out.

9. The Three Faces of Eve (1957)

***A Highly Engaging And Entertaining Movie***

"Three People Live Inside Your Skin"

"All true and utterly fantastic - The story of the most completely documented case of multiple personality in history!"

"A moment ago she was the nicest girl in town . . . A moment from now she will be anybody's pick-up!"

"The Three Faces Of Eve" is not a very well-known movie to all by any means but it's story revolves around nicely documented case of Multiple personality disorder. Joanne Woodward is simply amazing as a woman who suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder. She is very believable, and is fantastic in all three personalities, Eve White/Eve Black/Jane. Lee J Cobb is also great as the doctor who treats her.You will definitely love the Joanne Woodward characters. A great performance. Must Watch..

8. Identity (2003)

***Unpredictable, Exciting and Full Of Surprise***

"Identity is a secret. Identity is a mystery. Identity is a killer."

"Identity" quite a movie to be very honest from James Mangold. Not as spectacular as "Se7en" or "Silence Of The Lambs" but still its has all the ingredients that you'd expect it in a good thriller movie. This is the story of 10 strangers who are stranded at a motel overnight due to rain flooding the roads.

The movie unfolds nicely when the people start to die one by one which will keep you guessing until the ending twist which I can promise you will not see coming. The movie can seem a bit predictable but all in all you will be completely surprised by the truth behind the ten strangers. The movie throws out clues here and there and there are some points which leave you totally confused.

7. A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)

***Psychological Thriller, Horror, and Drama, all at their best***

"Every family has its dark secrets."

"Our sorrow was conceived long before our birth."

"A Tale Of Two Sisters" , the story is about a girl called Su Mi, who is released from a psychiatric hospital and returns home with her sister, Su Yeoung to her house near a lake. Her father has recently remarried so their step mum is trying to adjust to her new surroundings, while the sisters are hateful of her. And yet, there seems to be a mysterious presence in the house that no one is entirely sure of.

This is psychological horror at its best because you honestly won't see some of the twists coming. And you will have to think hard because it doesn't tell it to you in black and white - which is why a second viewing makes it even more exciting as you start to see moments of 'ahaso that's why this is happening'.

6. Mr. Brooks (2007)

***An Unusual, Creative Screenplay And Storyline***

"The man who has everything has everything to hide."

"I am a serial killer... stop me!"

Mr. Brooks, Mr. Citizen, is a soft spoken, highly intelligent man of the community, always in control of his work and family, despite the adversities he faces throughout the movie. Very enjoyable is the intricacy, detail, and discipline he is able to maintain throughout the chaos that befalls him throughout the entire plot. His total control of all of the challenges almost makes him a super hero in terms of skill and control in the performance of his self assigned, gruesome tasks at hand. The blending of his alter-ego, bad conscience side, Marshall, is seamlessly accomplished in this psychological escapade, to the point that one almost has to root for "them". Marshall, although the psychopathic side of Brooks, is almost likable, in a twisted sort of way. The ongoing dialog between the two is perfect, in that almost everyone can relate to conscience issues at some point in their lives.

If you are ready for a story that is intriguing, suspenseful, gripping, and present day, then this movie is a good place to start. Costner, Moore, Cook, and Hurt are all splendid. Each one is intense, tormented, fun, and believable in his respective role. Another positive feature about the storyline, and it's conclusion, is that it lends itself to, perhaps, a very interesting sequel potential. Kudos to the directors, producers, and entire cast.
