Another 10 Upcoming Action Adventure Films 2013


We had a tough time getting excited about many of the films released in 2012. Apparently, many of you felt the same way. The amount of action, adventure and Sci-fi films releasing in 2013 is just enormous compared to 2012. There will be plenty of superheroes flying around next year with some visually extraordinary CGI works. We have already seen 10 Most Anticipated Action Adventure Movies of 2013.

To add further to this genre we thought of producing another set of upcoming action adventure films that will be hitting the theaters next year. Watch latest trailers and enjoy every bit of excitement it offers.




1. Oblivion (2013)


Release Date: 19 April 2013

Cast: Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman and Andrea Riseborough.



As the film’s tagline says, "Earth is a memory worth fighting for.

Universal Pictures's "Oblivion" starring Tom Cruise, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Morgan Freeman, Melissa Leo, Zoë Bell and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.  It is a science fiction thriller film based on the Radical Comics graphic novel of the same name by "Torn: Legacy (2010)" Joseph Kosinski and directed and co-produced by Joseph Kosinski. Filming was done using Sony's newly-developed special CineAlta F65 camera. The film focuses on  a veteran soldier who is sent to a distant planet, where he has to destroy the remains of an alien race. The arrival of an unexpected traveler causes him to question what he knows about the planet, his mission, and himself. 

The visually-stylish trailer, released via Apple Trailers, the set-up seems slightly similar to M. Night Shyamalan's "After Earth" with a hostile planet that humanity has been abandoned.





2. After Earth (2013)

Cast: Will Smith, Jaden Smith and Isabelle Fuhrman.



Columbia Pictures's "After Earth" starring Will Smith, Jaden Smith, Isabelle Fuhrman, Zoë Kravitz and Kristofer Hivju. The film is written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. His previous film "The Last Airbender (2010)" was a notable box office failure. The first feature film shot using Sony F65 digital camera, as well as M. Night Shyamalan's first digital film.

The trailer for "After Earth" has finally been released worldwide. Once again Will Smith joins with his young son Jaden as a father and son fighting the realities of life. The official trailer sequences explains that the pair's flight vehicle is damaged while traversing the universe causing them to crash land on Earth, that was evacuated by humans 1,000 years earlier. As Cypher (Will Smith) is injured at the craft, Kitai (Jaden Smith) is forced to navigate the alien land to save them both. Sounds interesting? It looks it too.






3. Pacific Rim (2013)

Director: Guillermo del Toro

Screenplay & Writer: Travis Beacham.

Cast: Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi.



Warner Bros. Pictures's "Pacific Rim" is a much awaited science fiction action film directed by "Pan's Labyrinth (2006)" Guillermo del Toro based on a screenplay by Travis Beacham. The film starring Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman and Diego Klattenhoff. Tom Cruise was considered for a role, but in the end, Idris Elba was cast.

The film revolves around a world where soldiers piloting giant robots battle against giant sea monsters who have mysteriously risen from beneath the ocean. The film will be an homage to Japanese giant monster films, known as "Kaiju" worldwide. Del Toro has said the film will be "a beautiful poem to giant monsters". The film will be released in IMAX 3-D.







4. Ender's Game (2013)

Cast: Asa Butterfield, Abigail Breslin and Harrison Ford.



Lionsgate's Ender's Game stars Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Aramis Knight, Hailee Steinfeld, Jimmy Pinchak, Viola Davis, and Abigail Breslin and, directed and written by Gavin Hood. It is an action-science fiction film based on the multi-award winning novel Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card. After a horrific alien war, an unusually gifted child is sent to an advanced military school in space to prepare for a future invasion.







5. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013)

Cast: Lena Headey, Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower.



Sony Pictures Entertainment's "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" is an upcoming action adventure fantasy film based on the 2007 bestselling young-adult fantasy trilogy by Cassandra Clare. Directed by Harald Zwart, it stars Lena Headey, Lily Collins, Kevin Zegers, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jemima West, Jamie Campbell Bower and Robert Sheehan.

The film follows a teenager Clary Fray, who learns she is a descendent of clandestine order of half-angel warriors called Shadowhunters who protect the world from demons. Clary joins forces with fellow Shadowhunters Jace Weyland and siblings Alec and Isabelle Lightwood on a quest to rescue her mother  from the evil Shadowhunter Valentine. Not to worry, the first trailer for the film doesn't really reveal much about the story line, instead focusing on the film's action, while dropping the word "demon" a couple times.
