From Paramount and Skydance Productions, Brad Pitt's zombie-thriller "World War Z" becomes his careers most successful film to date at the worldwide box-office and it also sets the title as the actor’s best ever first weekend opening movie.

The weekend receipts and the worldwide total for World War Z passes $500 million ($197.4 million domestically and $305.2 million at the foreign box office) figure and also the $497.4 million earned by epic war film "Troy".

In the movie, Pitt plays an ex-United Nations investigator who traverses the globe in a race against time to stop a pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Mireille Enos and James Badge Dale also star.

Directed by Marc Foster and screenplay by Matthew Michael Carnahan, based on Max Brooks' 2006 novel of the same name. The movie was a passion project for Pitt, who produced alongside Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Ian Bryce. The film stars Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane, a former United Nations investigator who must travel the world to find a way to stop a zombie-like pandemic.


The film was released on June 21, 2013 in the United States in 2D and RealD 3D.
