Johnny Depp Says 'I May Give Up Acting'; Official Synopsis For Transcendence

Depp, talking to BBC Breakfast ahead of the U.K. rollout of "The Lone Ranger" in British cinemas on Aug. 9, says, “At a certain point, you know, you start thinking … when you add up the amount of dialogue that you say per year … and you realize you’ve said written words more than you actually had a chance to say your own words, you start thinking of that as an insane option for a human being.

Despite those aforementioned sequels (Alice in Wonderland and Pirates of the Caribbean), Depp does have one promising feature on the horizon, taking part in Wally Pfister‘s directorial debut "Transcendence." Starring alongside Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Cillian Murphy, Clifton Collins Jr., Kate Mara and Paul Bettany.

The official synopsis revealed by Warner Bros. describes the film as such:

"Will Caster, forefather of A.I., has his consciousness uploaded onto the internet. Once there, is it really Will who is interacting with humanity in order to make things better, or a darker sinister clone bent on the termination of the world as we know it?"

Depp will play Will Caster in the film, with Hall playing his wife and Paul Bettany playing another scientist working on his team. "Transcendence" is set to hit theaters on April 18 and hopefully we’ll see a trailer for the film this fall (perhaps in theaters with ‘Gravity‘?).
