Top Ten Movies About Feisty Taxi Drivers

List of ten most mouthy and feisty Taxi Driver (or Cab Driver) movies of all time. We all had our good and bad experience with taxi drivers in many ways. Some of these movies defines the character of taxi drivers and struggle in real life. Before i list out the top ten movies about Taxi Driver i just want to share a famous joke here..Enjoy it...

"A taxi passenger tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him a question. The driver screamed, lost control of the car, nearly hit a bus, went up on the footpath, and stopped centimeters from a shop window.

For a second everything went quiet in the cab, then the driver said, "Look mate, don't ever do that again. You scared the daylights out of me!"

The passenger apologized and said, "I didn't realize that a little tap would scare you so much. "

The driver replied, "Sorry, it's not really your fault. Today is my first day as a cab driver. I've been driving a funeral van for the last 25 years." "

1. Taxi Driver (1976)

***Unquestionably One Of The Greatest Movie Ever Made***

"You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Well, who the hell else are you talkin' to? You talkin' to me? Well, I'm the only one here. Who the f--k do you think you're talkin' to?"

"Travis Bickle: Loneliness has followed me my whole life, everywhere. In bars, in cars, sidewalks, stores, everywhere. There's no escape. I'm God's lonely man."

Scorsese's masterpiece is a raw, powerful and nerve wrecking look at depression and loneliness. Robert DeNiro, (Travis Beckle) plays the role of a Vietnam veteran who is trying to find himself in the wild city of New York and drives a Taxi for a living. Travis witnesses all kinds of crimes against society and how a young girl named Jodie Foster, (Iris Steensma), is being used as a prostitute and exploited by some very low life people. Travis becomes very committed to Iris and tries to straighten her life out. Travis decides he is going to do away with a certain politician and senator who is running for President.

DeNiro hits all the right marks without a false note anywhere. Foster is also impressive in her few scenes in the film as is Keitel as the pimp. This here remains one of the greatest American films ever made and I'm really not sure any movie could top it in showing the effects that loneliness can have on a person.

2. Collateral (2004)

***An Exciting And High Octane Crime Thriller***

"Max: I can't drive you around while you're killing folks. It ain't my job!

Vincent: Tonight it is."

"Vincent: Most people, ten years from now, same job, same place, same routine. Everything the same. Just keeping it safe over and over and over. Ten years from now. Man, you don't know where you'll be ten minutes from now . . ."

"Collateral" is a Micheal Mann film, starring Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx. This has too be Cruise's greatest performance. He's character Vincent is a contract killer who uses an innocent Taxi Driver named Max played by Jamie Foxx, to drive him around town as he kills his victims. Vincent assures Max that these are all "bad people" but as the story goes on you realize Vincent can't be trusted with anything he says.

The whole film is beautiful it's an amazing and monumental achievement in film making and is one of Cruise's and Foxx's best films to date. It's great fun to watch and see unfold in front of you and is shocking and heart breaking at the same time. All in all this is one hit you want to be in on.

3. The Fifth Element (1997)

***Sci-Fi At It's Best And Very Entertaining Movie***

"Korben Dallas: Listen lady, I only speak two languages; English and bad English."

"Korben Dallas: What's your name?

Leeloo: Leeloo Minai Lekarariba-Laminai-Tchai Ekbat De Sebat.

Korben Dallas: Good. That... that whole thing's your name, huh? Do you have, uh... a shorter name?

Leeloo: Uh, Leeloo."

Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis) is former special agent, now taxi driver turned special agent again in order to save the world from an ever growing evil in the form of a giant burning evil 'scare the pants of The President' ball of fire. In order to save the world from this said evil he needs five elements, 4 of which are unknown to everybody except the fifth element who he predictably meets after she falls into his taxi after being chased by cops.

Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman, Milla Jovovich, and Ian Holm all produce the necessary passion for their deep characters and the splendid dialog. The Fifth Element is a fantastic sci-fi action film that's as good to look at as anything out there, the style together with an entertaining story & Bruce Willis pretty much means The Fifth Element is a personal favorite of mine, what can I say? Watch it as soon as you can.

4. Night on Earth (1991)

***One Of The Most Underrated Comedy Movie Ever***

"Paris Driver: Don't blind people usually wear dark glasses?

Blind Woman: Do they? I've never seen a blind person."

"Paris Driver: No, you don't have fun in my taxi! It's my place of business, not your f***ing playground! Okay, get out! "

Like Jarmusch's previous film, 'Mystery Train', 'Night On Earth' gives us several different stories about different characters from different backgrounds. This time, though, there is not the slightest connection between the stories, except a thematic one: we are shown five stories taking place in taxi cabs in five different major cities around the world.

Each twenty minute story is just long enough to engross and short enough to leave you happy that you didn't waste your time and you're ready for the next. And there's real comedy too ... farce, circus buffoonery and even belly laughs. Absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended.

5. Taxi No. 9 2 11: Nau Do Gyarah (2006)

***An Engaging Roller Coast Ride All The Way***

"Raghav Shastri: We both morons had to born on this day only..."

Raghav Shastri is a hardworking taxi driver keeping his profession secret from his family because he would rather worship his wife rather have her go out of the house to work to make ends meets. Jai Mittal is a former playboy who is chastise by the death of his father. As he struggles to come to terms with the reality that hit him when he got to know that his late father had left him completely out of his will, he clings to his girlfriend and soon-to-be fiance Rupali. Together they begin to lock horns with Arjun Bajaj Jai's father's best friend who claims his friend left everything to him.

Plot lines in the movie follow similar to "Changing Lanes" for most of the first half. Of course the inspiration is not blatant, but some local twists and improvisations are tastefully done. What happens when two very distinct brands of humor meet and the egos that clashes? Watch Taxi No. 9211 to find out!

6. Taxi (1998)

***Quality Entertainment And Action Packed French Film***

"Émilien Coutant-Kerbalec: Oh my, they're gone!

Daniel Morales: 'Oh my, they're gone!' Let me ask you a question: Do your interrogations always end up like this, or are you just trying to impress me?

Émilien Coutant-Kerbalec: But no! I usually get to ask at least one question."

"Taxi" story is about how a nice young man , who just wants to be a taxi-driver, got caught up with an idiot cop  who's trying to impress his boss  – a busty blonde – by catching the feared and frenetic Mercedes Gang of bank robbers who have now invaded Marseilles to clean out all the local banks.

Producer and writer Luc Besson's touch is definitely notable throughout the movie. It has the same sort of humor, pace and overall style as his directed movies. It's the sort of entertainment he himself could had directed. I would recommend this film to anybody, although especially to Jackie Chan/John Woo Hong Kong movie fans as a lot of the action sequences have a similar hyper-real feel to them.

7. All or Nothing (2002)

***Surprising, Uplifting And Perfect Drama***

"Phil: Funny, isn't it? Love. If you're not together, you're alone."

"All or Nothing" film revolves around the family unit of cab driver Phil , his wife who makes up for his deficiencies in providing for his family by working in a mundane supermarket job and their 2 overweight children marooned in an insular existence with little chance of escape. The main focus is on their relationships, inabilities to communicate and articulate, and their individual outlooks. All or Nothing is extremely successful at conveying all of these aspects.

"All or Nothing" similar cinematic touch is also seen in "Secrets and Lies". Leigh consistently uses 2-shots and closed forms to tell the struggles of the characters in both movies. this is another Mike Leigh classic to add to his ever growing reputation as Britain's finest film-maker.

8. Stripes (1981)

***Silly, Extremely Funny And Another Bill Murray Classic***

"John Winger: Ma'am, I'm sure there are a lot of ways I've gone that you haven't."

Bill Murray (as John Winger) cab driver loses his job, car, and sexy blonde girlfriend. After watching a TV recruitment ad, Mr. Murray decides to join the U.S. Army. Joining Murray is cheerful chum Harold Ramis (as Russell Ziskey), who has been working as an English instructor.

Murray is really funny in this movie and this would be film that led him and Harold Ramis to be together in Ghostbusters. The whole cast was just great especially the late Warren Oates as the drill sergeant. Stripes is funny, lighthearted, painless and likable in every way. It also has just enough gratuitous 80s nudity to top everything off…

9. Taxi 2 (2000)

***A Good Sequel And Fast Paced Movie***

"Émilien Coutant-Kerbalec: Line up, face down, hands on your back, I'm warning you, I'm the shooting champion of the department, stop doing the Mario! You speak French?

Émilien Coutant-Kerbalec: Watch out! Warned you! Me do police brutality!"

"Taxi 2" plot, a Japanese government-member pays a visit to Marseilles to have a look at the anti-terror system of the city. In order to show some of the possibilities, they take him for a ride through the city with some fake attacks along the way. All goes well till some Yakuzis kidnap the Japanese minister.

Taxi 2 is an action-comedy. No serious drama, interesting story or a Oscar-winning comedy. Just a ordinary, very funny comedy. Don't expect to much realism from the car chases, although most of them are pretty good.

10. D.C. Cab (1983)

***A Good Old 80s Classic Comedy***

"Samson: Fool! Your fare is the only thing stopping me from breaking your face!"

"D.C. Cab" movie is about a Washington,d.c. cab company that is struggling to stay open and is always bugged by a unfriendly hack inspector and A rival cab company. And when a good friend come to town to become a cabbie he finds that things are not all they seem and decides to help...But that's not the only thing that he has to worry about.

Juvenile humor from the 80's. Gotta love it! Or not. I'm in between. There is some good moments, but there are other that tell you, without any doubt, that you're wasting your time watching this.
