We had a tough time getting excited about many of the films released in 2012. Apparently, many of you felt the same way. The amount of action, adventure and Sci-fi films releasing in 2013 is just enormous compared to 2012. There will be plenty of superheroes flying around next year with some visually extraordinary CGI works. We have already seen 10 Most Anticipated Action Adventure Movies of 2013. 

To add further to this genre we thought of producing another set of upcoming action adventure films that will be hitting the theaters next year. Watch latest trailers and enjoy every bit of excitement it offers.

1. Oblivion (2013)

As the film’s tagline says, "Earth is a memory worth fighting for.”

Universal Pictures's "Oblivion" starring Tom Cruise, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Morgan Freeman, Melissa Leo, Zoë Bell and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.  It is a science fiction thriller film based on the Radical Comics graphic novel of the same name by "Torn: Legacy (2010)" Joseph Kosinski and directed and co-produced by Joseph Kosinski. Filming was done using Sony's newly-developed special CineAlta F65 camera. The film focuses on  a veteran soldier who is sent to a distant planet, where he has to destroy the remains of an alien race. The arrival of an unexpected traveler causes him to question what he knows about the planet, his mission, and himself. 

The visually-stylish trailer, released via Apple Trailers, the set-up seems slightly similar to M. Night Shyamalan's "After Earth" with a hostile planet that humanity has been abandoned.

2. After Earth (2013)

Cast: Will Smith, Jaden Smith and Isabelle Fuhrman.

Columbia Pictures's "After Earth" starring Will Smith, Jaden Smith, Isabelle Fuhrman, Zoë Kravitz and Kristofer Hivju. The film is written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. His previous film "The Last Airbender (2010)" was a notable box office failure. The first feature film shot using Sony F65 digital camera, as well as M. Night Shyamalan's first digital film.

The trailer for "After Earth" has finally been released worldwide. Once again Will Smith joins with his young son Jaden as a father and son fighting the realities of life. The official trailer sequences explains that the pair's flight vehicle is damaged while traversing the universe causing them to crash land on Earth, that was evacuated by humans 1,000 years earlier. As Cypher (Will Smith) is injured at the craft, Kitai (Jaden Smith) is forced to navigate the alien land to save them both. Sounds interesting? It looks it too.

3. Pacific Rim (2013)

Director: Guillermo del Toro

Cast: Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi.

Warner Bros. Pictures's "Pacific Rim" is a much awaited science fiction action film directed by "Pan's Labyrinth (2006)" Guillermo del Toro based on a screenplay by Travis Beacham. The film starring Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman and Diego Klattenhoff. Tom Cruise was considered for a role, but in the end, Idris Elba was cast.

The film revolves around a world where soldiers piloting giant robots battle against giant sea monsters who have mysteriously risen from beneath the ocean. The film will be an homage to Japanese giant monster films, known as "Kaiju" worldwide. Del Toro has said the film will be "a beautiful poem to giant monsters". The film will be released in IMAX 3-D.

4. Ender's Game (2013)

Cast: Asa Butterfield, Abigail Breslin and Harrison Ford.

Lionsgate's Ender's Game stars Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Aramis Knight, Hailee Steinfeld, Jimmy Pinchak, Viola Davis, and Abigail Breslin and, directed and written by Gavin Hood. It is an action-science fiction film based on the multi-award winning novel Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card. After a horrific alien war, an unusually gifted child is sent to an advanced military school in space to prepare for a future invasion.

5. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013)

Cast: Lena Headey, Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower.

Sony Pictures Entertainment's "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" is an upcoming action adventure fantasy film based on the 2007 bestselling young-adult fantasy trilogy by Cassandra Clare. Directed by Harald Zwart, it stars Lena Headey, Lily Collins, Kevin Zegers, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jemima West, Jamie Campbell Bower and Robert Sheehan.

The film follows a teenager Clary Fray, who learns she is a descendent of clandestine order of half-angel warriors called Shadowhunters who protect the world from demons. Clary joins forces with fellow Shadowhunters Jace Weyland and siblings Alec and Isabelle Lightwood on a quest to rescue her mother  from the evil Shadowhunter Valentine. Not to worry, the first trailer for the film doesn't really reveal much about the story line, instead focusing on the film's action, while dropping the word "demon" a couple times.

Columbia Pictures "Zero Dark Thirty" is one of the most anticipated American action thriller film based on the story of history's greatest manhunt for the world's most dangerous man and the film chronicles American efforts to capture or kill Osama bin Laden. The film is directed and co-produced by Kathryn Bigelow and written by Mark Boal, both worked together in "The Hurt Locker", it won six Oscars, including Best Director for Bigelow, the first woman to win this award. It also won Best Picture. Boal won for Best Original Screenplay.

Kathryn Bigelow's ex-husband 'James Cameron' was previously in negotiations to direct the film, but dropped out due to pre-production work of the sequel of Avatar. "Zero Dark Thirty" is the frontrunner at the upcoming Academy Awards.

2. The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

It is a crime drama film directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Terence Winter. The film is based on the memoir of the same name by Jordan Belfort. "The Wolf of Wall Street" will make a fifth collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio. 

The first Martin Scorsese film to be shot with anamorphic lenses since his "Bringing Out the Dead (1999). The story about a New York stockbroker, portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio, who unwilling to cooperate in a large securities fraud case involving corruption on Wall Street, the corporate banking world and mob infiltration.

3. Pain & Gain (2013)

The film has some big names like Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Ed Harris, Rob Corddry, Anthony Mackie, Tony Shalhoub, Rebel Wilson and Ken Jeong. This is Michael Bay's lowest budgeted film since his feature film debut, the 1995 action-comedy "Bad Boys".

4. Snitch (2013)

Summit Entertainment's "Snitch" is an upcoming fast-paced action thriller starring Dwayne Johnson, Susan Sarandon, Michael Kenneth Williams, Barry Pepper and, written and directed by Ric Roman Waugh. Dwayne Johnson stars as a father whose teenage son is wrongly accused of a drug trafficking crime and is looking at a compulsory minimum prison sentence of 10 years. Desperate and determined to rescue his son at all costs, he makes a deal with the U.S. Attorney to work as an undercover informant and infiltrate a drug cartel on a dangerous mission - risking everything, including his family and his own life. The initial trailer seems like a serious action drama.

5. Twelve Years a Slave (2013)

New Regency Productions's "Twelve Years a Slave" is an upcoming drama film directed and written by Steve McQueen and co-written by John Ridley. It is based on the memoir of the same name by Solomon Northup. It stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt and Paul Dano. The story follows a man living in New York during the mid-1800s is kidnapped and sold into slavery in the deep south. This film marks the reuniting of Dwight Henry and Quvenzhané Wallis, both from Louisiana, who were acclaimed for their first-ever acting roles when they co-starred in "Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012)". 6. Captain Phillips (2013)

Paul Greengrass's "Captain Phillips" starring Tom Hanks as real life ship captain Richard Phillips who allowed himself to be taken hostage by Somali pirates in exchange for the safety of his crew. It is based on the Phillips's memoir "A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy Seals, and Dangerous Days at Sea" - recounts his three days as their captive and his dramatic rescue. "Captain Phillips" look like steady genre fare along the lines of Paul Greengrass's "Green Zone (2010), which was also based on real events.

7. Miracle Underground (2013)

Joanne Froggatt, Toby Regbo, Stephanie Leonidas, Liz White and Jaime Winstone are all set to star in the Andrew Douglas-directed thriller "uwantme2killhim" for Momentum Pictures and Alliance Films. The film is based on "Judy Bachrach's Vanity Fair" article and follows a 16 year old boy named Mark who meets Rachel on the Internet and begins an intense online relationship. Shailene Woodley turned down the role of Carrie, while Haley Bennett, Dakota Fanning, Emily Browning, Lily Collins and Bella Heathcote auditioned. The film will be the first co-production between MGM and Screen Gems.

The film features an ordinary garden snail whose dream to become the fastest snail in the world comes true. Along with Ryan Reynolds, who stars as the titular character, the film also features: Paul Giamatti, Michael Peña, Luis Guzman, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. The film will star Kellan Lutz, Spencer Locke, Anton Zetterholm and Jaime Ray Newman. The screenplay was written by Reinhard Klooss, Jessica Postigo and Yoni Brenner. Monsters University is an upcoming Pixar's 3D animated monster-comedy film and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. This is Dan Scanlon's first animated film as director. It had some great fun character, some awesome moments and some well placed comical moments. 

John Goodman reprises his role as James P. Sullivan, with Billy Crystal, Steve Buscemi, Jennifer Tilly, Frank Oz, and John Ratzenberger is reprising their roles as Mike Wazowski, Randall Boggs, Celia Mae, Jeff Fungus and the Abominable Snowman, respectively. Kelsey Grammer replaces James Coburn as the voice of Henry J. Waternoose III.

It is a simple story coated with wonderful moments, and characters that are pleasing to watch.With laughs, warm fuzzies, bad guys, cute kids, and little green minions, Despicable Me 2 could be another great animated film.

Based on William Joyce's children's book "The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs". It is being produced by Blue Sky Studios, and stars the voices of Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, Christoph Waltz, Steven Tyler, Aziz Ansari, Pitbull, with Beyoncé Knowles and Colin Farrell. The initial trailer looks visually amazing and full of fantasy adventure.
