Best Martin Scorsese's Movies So Far

Martin Scorsese is one of the most well-known and influential directors around who has manipulated himself to the current generation of film making. You must have read a lot about him and his work. So I am not going to say anything new about him here but I would like to throw light on his top 10 movies that I have seen so far.

1. The Departed (2006)

***A Modern Crime-Drama With Stunning Star casts***

"Lies. Betrayal. Sacrifice. How far will you take it?"

"Cops or Criminals. When you're facing a loaded gun what's the difference?"

I have become a huge fan of Martin Scorsese's movies after watching his series of super crime Drama's like Taxi Driver, Goodfellas and Cape Fear. Robert De Niro is another common thing in these movies with excellent acting skills.

I feel The Departed is Martin's best movie so far. This movie has such a huge star cast like Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg. Great storytelling
and presence of mind. Just Watch this Movie.

2. Raging Bull (1980)

***Robert De Niro's  Powerful, One Of The Best "Boxing-Movie"***

"He isn't nervous that you did it, he's nervous why you won't admit it."

"Raging Bull" is about Jake La Motta's life and how he dealt with his anger and aggression inside the ring as well as outside the ring. The violent behavior served him well inside the boxing ring but cost him everything outside the ring. As he won fights he slowly lost the family and friends that were close to him because of his violent behavior and jealousy.  Some of the boxing sequences were very well captured. It is a boxing movie masterpiece still brutal, bloody and one of the best films made during the 80's.

3. Goodfellas (1990)

***The Best Classic Mobster Movie I have Seen***

""As far back as I can remember, I've always wanted to be a gangster." -- Henry Hill, Brooklyn, N.Y. 1955."

"In a world that's powered by violence, on the streets where the violent have power, a new generation carries on an old tradition."

Honestly speaking i am very biased towards 'Goodfellas' mainly due to three reasons.Firstly, Robert De Niro is my best actor. Secondly,Martin Scorcsese is one of my best director and thirdly, according to me this is the best work of Martin Scorcsese till date. Great script, Great performance by all the three lead actors-De Niro,Ray Liotta and Joe Pesci, Great approach towards portraying the characters, Great camera work, Great Scripting, Great editing and above all Great direction. Must Watch if you are into "Gangsta" thing.

4.  Cape Fear (1991)

***Yet Another Gripping And Power-Packed performance From Robert De Niro***

"There is nothing in the dark that isn't there in the light. Except fear."

"Sam Bowden has always provided for his family's future. But the past is coming back to haunt them."

I don't know about others but i really enjoyed this movie. 'Cape Fear' tells the story of a convicted rapist who seeks vengeance against a former public defender, whom he blames for his 14-year imprisonment due to purposefully faulty defense tactics used during his trial. Its also known fact that it was remake of 1962's Cape Fear, but I rate this movie better than original one. Robert die niro's simply steals the show with terrifying performance and last 30 minutes or so really amazing to watch. All in all MUST WATCH.

5. Casino (1995)

***A Typical Masterpiece From Martin Scorsese***

"No One Stays At The Top Forever"

A very clever and very well written-produced film. I really liked all the stars in the film like Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. I thought the Joe Pesci role was very unique, powerful and good, It was sheer pleasure to watch Robert de niro and Sharon Stones. The story was interesting and well crafted screenplay. It was a bit long, but that's just the way it is.  Casino is a violent, spellbinding and brilliant movie. You can gamble with this one..Must watch for Joe Pesci.

6. Shutter Island (2010)

***An Effective Psychological Thriller***

"Someone Is Missing"

Shutter Island is Scorsese's psychological thriller movie. Obviously the star is Leonardo DiCaprio, but the supporting cast stood out as well. There wasn't really a misplaced actor in the entire film. Every character stood out as necessary, as did every particular scene with those characters. The movie moves at a solid pace and doesn't let up from the start. The well chosen location and great cinematography with equally well supported soundtracks.

7. Taxi Driver (1976)

***One Of The Strangest And Yet So Remarkable Movie Ever***

"On every street in every city, there's a nobody who dreams of being a somebody."

"He's a lonely forgotten man desperate to prove that he's alive."

Robert De Niro gives one of the most realistic, most haunting performances in film history. The character of Travis Bickle was portrayed with such subtle authenticity. He fully inherited the character, mentally and physically altering himself for the role. He didn't have to act... he was Travis Bickle. He adds so much to the character that makes this movie unforgettable. His famous quirky monologues add a touch of humor to the film, but are also quite disturbing and effective. There's a reason Robert De Niro is dubbed as one of the greatest actors of all time, and his performance in Taxi Driver is that reason.

8. The Aviator (2004)

***DiCaprio's Breakthrough Performance***

"Some Men Dream The Future. He Built It."

"For some men, the sky was the limit. For him, it was just the beginning."

This is the story of millionaire Howard Hughes. The man who started out with a tool company, began his film-making career with the worlds most expensive film and then went on to become a pioneer in aviation. A story about a manic and intense individual, a man of great success but also one who lived constantly on the edge. And not only is this movie about his life's work but also about his turbulent personal life and the many women he loved.  A recommended viewing.

9. Hugo (2011)

***Gorgeous Sets, Visually Stunning And The Real Magic***

"One of the most legendary directors of our time takes you on an extraordinary adventure."

Martin Scorcese's new film, Hugo is one of the best cinematic experience, I've had in years. The 3D is just simply astounding and the best I have ever seen in a movie. The visual effects, cinematography, art direction, just technically superb. Finally a smart, awe-aspiring family film, which are really rare nowadays. A definite surprise coming from legendary director, Martin Scorcese, who's known for movies with a lot of swearing, violence, drugs and other adult-themed subjects.

10. Gangs Of New York (2002)

***A Spectacular Entertainment All The Way***

"America Was Born In The Streets."

Gangs of new york is not one of the best work from Martin but yet it has so much to watch. Very well selected star casts, amazing sets, great screenplay and spectacular soundtracks. Daniel Day Lewis as Bill "The Butcher" Cutting did an excellent job.
