First Look Images And Poster For Rebecca Hall's "A Promise"

"A Promise" (aka "Une Promesse") is an upcoming French romantic drama film directed by Patrice Leconte and written by Patrice Leconte and Jérôme Tonnerre. It stars Rebecca Hall, Alan Rickman, Richard Madden and Maggie Steed. 

Selected to play Out Of Competition later this month at the Venice Film Festival, tells the pre-World War I-set tale of the wife of a wealthy older man who begins to fall in love with her husband's assistant, who is a young engineer with a much more modest background. It's based on Stefan Zweig's novella "Journey into the Past." The material sounds good and we're generally pre-disposed to watching anything featuring Hall. Not to mention that Leconte has some very good films under his belt.

Until we get a chance to see it, these pics and a poster will hold us over for now. The film has not yet landed U.S. distribution.
